Overview

As you go about the 7 Days To Die world, you will often find yourself in quite dark places where it is difficult to see. Not only can it be difficult to find your way, but if there are enemies around, it could even turn fatal. Guess what can come in handy in such situations? A simple Flashlight! This simple early-game item can be found through looting, bought from traders, or you can simply craft one at a Workbench. While looting through houses, you generally find flashlights in Suitcases. Other than being a portable source of light, if you are desperate enough, you can even use it as a weak melee weapon.

Uses Of A Flashlight

Tool

As a tool, the obvious use of this item is to provide light! You can do this by simply pressing on F while holding the flashlight. With F you can toggle the light on & off. This will help to light the way and also to spot any enemies.

The downside to this is that you cannot hold a weapon while equipped with this item. Your only option is to either use it as a weapon or put it back in and take out a proper weapon. A good solution to this is to use the alternative, which is a Mining Helmet.

Weapon

As we mentioned before, if you find yourself in a pinch while holding a flashlight, you can use it as a melee weapon by left-clicking on the enemy. It does do some damage. In fact, if you manage to get 9 direct hits on the head, it will kill a single zombie. 17 direct hits to anywhere else on the body will also do the trick. Needless to say, you should not try to take down a group of enemies or zombie horde with a flashlight!

Flashlight As An Addon

Guns

Remember we said you can’t hold a gun while being equipped with a flashlight? Well, a workaround to this is to attach your flashlight on top of the gun. This can be done on any gun, but only if you have read the schematics of that gun. In such a case, simply open the Assemble screen for the gun and add the flashlight in the empty slot meant for it. Now you can turn on/off the flashlight while holding that gun simply pressing F.
