5 of the Best ARK PVE Servers

Best ARK PVE Servers? Isn’t this website about the game 7 Days To Die? Well, yes, but we are all gamers here, and we have noticed a lot of 7 Days To Die players are not only primarily PVE players but also like other survival crafting games. So we decided to write about our enjoyment of trying ARK PVE Servers. We tend to steer away from the toxicity of PVP games, and although ARK has a huge PVP element, there is so much PVE Content and mods/plugins that add so much more to the game. You could spend 6 months on an ARK PVE server and still not get bored.

So, in the spirit of all our 7 Days To Die community members who love and enjoy survival base-building games, we have written this article on the Best ARK PVE Servers.

What are ARK PVE Servers?

In case you didn’t know, PVP stands for “Player vs Player”, and PVE, which is what we are talking about today, stands for “Player vs Environment”. In the world of gaming, the environment part of PVE refers to the enemies or hostile entities the developers have added to the game to make surviving it difficult. For example, on ARK PVE Servers, you have dinosaurs that roam around the map and will attack you on sight or if provoked. Hunger, thirst, cold, hot, etc, are all parts of the PVE element as well. In other games, NPCs you must fight or interact with are also part of the Environment.

ARK PVE Servers emphasize these parts of the gameplay and may even have mods or plugins that add more PVE elements. They also do everything they can to prevent PVP. Most ARK PVE Servers have PVP turned off and base raiding disabled, so a player can’t physically break the rules even if they wanted to.

However, some always know how to exploit the game to grieve other players. For example, in 7 Days To Die PVE Servers, it’s easy to turn off a player’s ability to damage another player’s base, stopping them from raiding you. But they could always herd over a few zombies to do the raiding for them. The same goes for ARK PVE Servers. One such exploit is the ability to drag a player’s sleeping body into the water so it drowns them whilst they are offline. Once the player is dead, his body can be looted.

That’s why one important criteria in choosing the best ARK PVE Servers is having an active team of moderators and admins who look after the community and ensure that exploiters and griefers are dealt with quickly.

How To Join ARK PVE Servers?

You would think it would be pretty straightforward to join any of the ARK PVE Servers we have listed below. But actually, it’s not, and it’s been made that way on purpose, thanks to Nitrado. It’s a long story, but here is how you can join not just the ARK PVE Servers that we recommend here but any player-run ARK PVE Server.

You can connect to the player-run ARK PVE Servers by searching for their name in the server listings. However, you will need to make sure you are looking in the “unofficial” section and checkmark the “Dedicated Servers” box a few times, and the list will appear.

From what we understand, Nitrado has purposely made this a bug so that when you select “unofficial,” only Nitrado servers will appear. It’s a pretty sly tactic if you ask me. So, click that check mark box at the bottom right a few times to see all the unofficial servers, not just the Nitrado ones.

How To Join an ARK PVE Server

If you still don’t see the server you are looking for there, you can connect directly to it by pressing the ~ key, usually next to your 1 key. From there, you will see a little black console box come up. You can copy/paste the connection commands below:

What Decides the Best ARK PVE Server?

There are many ways to determine what makes the best ARK PVE Servers, such as uptime, mods, lag, community, knowledgeable admins, active moderators, hardware, and reputation. However, we boil it down to three main aspects that we feel encompass many of these aspects and are what make ARK PVE Servers successful and worth trying.

Active Team

As mentioned above, an active and knowledgeable team is essential to running successful ARK PVE Servers. Since the game is known to be buggy, we look for an active support team that is always ready to help the community.

Server Hardware

ARK PVE Servers can be resource-hungry. The more players, the more dinos, and the more bases. All equate to eating a server’s resources. We look for ARK PVE servers that invest in decent hardware to handle this.

Test Of Time

ARK PVE Servers are some of the most complex and challenging gaming servers to run. Since sudden disappearances of server owners are common, we only recommend the ones that have been around for 3 years or longer.

#1 Best ARK PVE Server – Salty Zombies

There are not many gaming communities that are successful at hosting multiple games at the same time. Most only host one and concentrate on one main game. Some may venture out into a 2nd game. We liked Salty Zombies because not only are they a big community of gamers that play and host multiple games. But they have perfected running gaming communities to an art.

Their admins are very technically skilled and knowledgeable, and the moderator’s team has 24/7 coverage. So when I am fighting dino bosses at 3:30 a.m. with my buddies, and something goes wrong, I can open a ticket in their Discord, and a real-life person will ask me, “How can I help you?” before I can even write about the issue.

Their super active support system was very impressive. From what we see on their website, plus the smooth and pretty much lag-free experience, they buy top-of-the-line servers. As we write this, they currently rent Ryzen 7950x with 128GB of DDR 5 RAM. Very fast processors, which you may not know, are essential to running gaming servers.

Finally, the last criteria: Will you wake up one day to the Salty Zombies ARK PVE Servers being gone because one day the community’s owners decided to close down due to XYZ? No! It’s a surprisingly all-too-familiar scenario for server owners just deciding it’s not worth it anymore. But Salty Zombies has been around for almost a decade, so rest assured they will not disappear from you and will be here for the long run.

#2 Best ARK PVE Server – Naked & Afraid

Naked & Afraid is our 2nd choice for running some good ARK PVE Servers. They are avidly dedicated through and through the ARK community. They still run the ASE cluster, although with low pop. Their dedication to running the buggy unsupported version of the game is a sign of… well, dedication. They even have the ARK Overhaul mod, Primal Fear.

But like most ARK Communities, they, too, have switched to hosting ARK ASA Servers since running and managing them is much easier. No longer do we wait for 30 minutes to load into an ARK server because it has too many mods. ARK ASA is a way better game, and it’s the game we knew ARK could be.

The hardware of Naked & Afraid ARK PVE Server is also top-notch, which is good considering they host so many ARK Clusters, old and new. If you are looking for the purest community, then Naked & Afraid is the one for you.

#3 Best ARK PVE Server – The Friendly Server

The Friendly Server is one of the gaming communities that rose from the ashes of a previous server owner deciding to close his servers down, which, as mentioned before, happens more often than not. Originally called “UKFriendlys,” created by Dazztee, it was suddenly closed after a few years. So, a community member known as Jdab had an ARK Test server that was quickly converted into a fully running ARK PVE Server for the community to continue playing together.

And such, The Friendly Server was born. Since then, it has grown into an active community full of friendly gamers. They recently branched out into hosting Conan Exiles servers. They have 4 dedicated servers. Although that is a lot of servers, the tech could do with an upgrade. They are still using DDR 3 RAM. But none the less, spreading the load over 4 machines helps with higher player counts.

#4 Best ARK PVE Server – Chaos Ascended

As the name suggests, Chaos Ascended is purely an ARK ASA PVE Server community. It is a 16+ community with a fun and friendly environment. Their server wipes every few months and is renowned for its increased difficulty.

They like to switch things up a bit with each wipe. For example, last wipe they had Cannon Progression Mode, which means you had to defeat the map bosses before you were allowed to go to the next map. They also have a classic Primal Fear “Extreme” Mode that features dramatically altered dinos that often have unique attacks and insanely tough custom bosses.

So, if you are literlly looking for Chaos in your ARK PVE Server experience, then this community has got you covered. Its not for newbs or the faint hearted.

Final Thoughts

Finding a new ARK PVE Server to call home can be tricky, especially now that the ARK community is split between ASE and the new ASA. Many server owners are switching to ASA because it is less buggy and easier to manage, while the older ASE is almost entirely unsupported by the modding community. However, most ARK community still hesitates to get the new ASA version.

Most of the communities listed above run ARK ASA servers.
